Sunday Skills and Drills @ The Taiko Centre

An exciting way to kick off the weekend, these Skills and Drills sessions will cover a range of things including shime and odaiko technique as well as different styles of playing  such as up-stand and slant stand. £10 per person and suitable for those who’ve played taiko before. Taiko Day Retreat @ The Taiko Centre

Kagemusha Taiko are now offering ‘Taiko Day Retreats’. Spend the day learning the basics and fundamentals of this amazing performing art at our fully equipped studio.

Blow those cobwebs away with this unique opportunity to re-energise, re-charge and challenge yourself with something new. Drumming, beautiful Devon countryside and more, Kagemusha Taiko’s Day Retreats are the perfect way to escape. With no previous experience of taiko necessary, these days are open to enthusiastic adults of all ages.

Our day retreats begin with gentle stretches followed by a day of taiko drumming, finishing off with exclusive use of a hydro-therapy pool. Places are just £60 per person and must be booked in advance by emailing info@kagemusha.com.

Included;

  • A day of taiko drumming

  • Tea & coffee throughout the day

  • 1 hour session in a hydro-therapy pool

This two hour workshop at our Taiko Centre at Hannahs at Seale Hayne teaches you the basics and fundamentals, as well as a bit of history of taiko. The workshops will include some basics and fundamentals on playing odaiko to shake off those lockdown cobwebs as well as drills and rhythm patterns to give the brain a bit of a workout. For various reasons there will be a limit of 6 participants in the workshop, therefore the same workshop is being run twice in one morning. Please only book a space on one workshop.

This workshop is not suitable for beginners.

Taste of Taiko Workshop

We’re delighted to bring back our Taste of Taiko workshops which are the perfect opportunity for complete beginners to give taiko a try. Our next one is Saturday 26th September.

To keep everyone safe our workshops are run in a COVID-secure environment and meet all social distancing guidelines.

Our Taste of Taiko workshops are perfect for complete beginners. If you’ve seen taiko drumming and want to give it a try, Taste of Taiko gives you an overview of the history of taiko as well as plenty of time drumming to learn the basics and fundamentals, and a short piece.
This workshop takes place at our Taiko Centre just outside of Newton Abbot. Places are just £15 per person, however they are limited and must be booked in advance. Suitable for those 16yrs+
