This fascinating documentary explores the philosophy and discipline that goes into mastering the drum.

Preceded by a performance from Kagemusha Taiko, and introduced by Jonathan Kirby, Artistic Director of Kagemusha Taiko.

Sunday Skills and Drills @ The Taiko Centre

An exciting way to kick off the weekend, these Skills and Drills sessions will cover a range of things including shime and odaiko technique as well as different styles of playing  such as up-stand and slant stand. £10 per person and suitable for those who’ve played taiko before. Naname is Nuts! @ The Taiko Centre

Naname style is where the drum is played on a slant stand and this workshop will feature the fundamentals of playing this style as well as drills and elements of ‘Omiyage’ the open source piece composed by Shoji Kameda.

This workshop is only suitable for those who have played taiko before. Places are £10 per person and must be booked in advance by emailing info@kagemusha.com.

Seen taiko and now want to do it? Our Taste of Taiko workshops are perfect for complete beginners who want to give this great performing art a go. This two hour workshop at our Taiko Centre at Hannahs at Seale Hayne teaches you the basics and fundamentals, as well as a bit of history of taiko. Places must be booked in advance by emailing info@kagemusha.com.

Family Saturday Social @ The Taiko Centre

Start the half-term off with a bang with this Family Saturday Social, a workshop where the whole family can play together, refreshments 9.30 – 10.00 am with taiko drumming 10.00 – 11.30 am. This session is suitable for complete beginners or those that have played before, whether they want to bring kids along or not!

Children (8 – 16) – £5, Adults – £10.
